DESIGN II
PROJECT II
Anchor 1
CONTEXTUAL FIT
The Smith family has commissioned me to build an extension to their home on Long Island Sound's shore. The owner demanded that the integrity of the original design be preserved, but that the new addition be visible.
NARRATIVE
The Smith family is a family that cares a lot about their health and fitness lifestyle, and they also consider family time an important way to grow together as a family. They are interested in adding an exercise room with view to the ocean, and a large family room in which they can gather and spend time together. They also want an outdoor area where they can gather and have outdoor activities.

Based on their request, my job is to design an addition to the house but still maintain Meier's essence in the building. I plan on doing this by first analyzing various aspects that make this house unique such as circulation, hierarchy, and open vs enclosed spaces, in order to then transfer and maintain those characteristics onto the new extension.
